Cisco equipment, New vs Used

I am thinking of buying a Cisco 3550 and need it cheap. What do I
loose buying used. Would I get IOS upgrades? Same day/next day
hardware repair, do you have to purchase that when buying new? Does
buying new get any configuration support from Cisco and for how long.

Who would you recomend buying used from?

Any help greatly appreciated

I bought a PIX 501 used off eBay and had no trouble getting it covered under
Cisco's Smartnet with full hardware replacement, access to SW updates and
TAC - Smartnet is NBD 8x5 and cost only $89 a year.
