changing default action

Hey all;

Is there an easy way to chage the default action when you click on an icon?
My specific problem is this: I have a shortcut to my C drive in the quick
launch menu (Win98SE). A few weeks ago, the default action somehow changed
itself from 'open' to 'autoplay'. Now to go to my C drive I have to right
click and select open (not very quick). How do I change this?
