Hey,
I borrowed a laptop which I was running XP on, but for no reason when I
turn it on it says 'Hard Disk Error'. I experienced this on my desktop
computer aswell, and the only way I could get the hard drive working again
was to put it as a slave drive and run FDisk.

I cant do this on my laptop as I cant get the hard disk out and I dont have
anything to run a laptop hard disk as a slave.

I've tried using boot disks, and the Windows XP installation disk. Both had
no success.

Any ideas on how to format this drive and get it working again?
Thanks for any advice.

I'd just give the laptop back to whomever you borrowed it from and tell them
what happened. I wouldn't fool around with it.

Boot the XP cd and follow the prompts to "repair Console". Once there
type "fixmbr" then "fixboot"
