Janet,
Restart the computer with the XP install disk in the CD-ROM drive. It's
going to lead you through a Wizard that will help you with the installation
and the reformatting of the drive.
When the Wizard looks for other operating systems, it will find Windows
2000. Tell it you want to install a new OS (Clean Install). Later, it will
ask you if you want to use the existing partition, or format. After a
warning or two, it will repave your disk and start from scratch. Remember,
though, EVERYTHING you had will get wiped if you say yes to the format.
