Alright.
I did something really stupid with WinXP Pro, at least I think this is what caused it. My NTFS file system is completely messed up... certain files that are on my hard drive now are not accessible even though they aren't deleted. What happened was my main reference folder (I'm not sure if that's what it's called) was deleted and I wasn't even thinking about it. I recently installed a clean installation of WinXP Pro from Home Edition and deleted my old main reference folder (the folder that all of the files use somehow) thinking I didn't need it anymore... big mistake! Now files that used it are sitting on my HD and I'm getting all kinds of crazy sharing problems. Can someone help me? Any programs at all or anything I need to do? CHKDSK /F doesn't fix this and I've tried. Robert |

I don't have a *clue* as to what you're talking about here. A Main Ref Folder? The only thing I can think of is that you have some kind of File Permission issues for the accounts being used on an NTFS partition. And you may also have File Sharing Permission issues for accounts as well. May I suggest the MicroSoft Press Windows Professional Resource Kit Book ISBN 0-7356-1974-3 as your starting point in understanding the XP Pro O/S. Duane |

Thanks Duane, that fixed it and I took ownership of the drive (sorry
for being an XP newbie). Regards. |
