I installed MS Office 2000 on some new pc's with WinXP Pro. All of the
programs run fine except Access. When I click that icon, it comes back with "can't find database specified or database does not exist. I put customers old hard drive in to move files over and they have several files that use Access. I tried it on my personal PC and get the same error. I have 2 disk that come with this small office version. I un-installed and tried a manual install and I don't even see the option for Access. Could it be the icon is there but there but any files to run this program? If so, is there a source just for this program? I went to MS database and could not see any help pertaining to this need. I am not familiar at all with this program so any light is appreicated. Thanks, Mike Please remove nospam to email me Michael Bell @Bell Electronics Rincon, GA.31326 MBell72398 |

Access can be configured to look for certain Access databases that have been designed to hold the customer's data for some application the customer uses. The Access databases could have been created in a specified directory path and are not there on the machine at application startup. I don't know what you mean when you indicate that you clicked on the Access Icon. Are you talking about some *custom* Access Icon for the customer's usage or are you talking about the MS Access Icon to start Access itself used to maintain databases and tables? Duane |

Hey Duane,
The MS Access icon I am referring to is the .exe found in program files/Ms office/office That is where the icons for excel, outlook, word, etc where as well. From there, I created shortcuts to all of these and placed on desktop. As I implied, I am totally unfamiliar with this program and I thank you for trying to help me. Which distribution of office 2k are you using? Office2k Pro includes
Access, but not lower versions. Are you the Administrator on those PCs? If you don't login with the Administrator account in XP it screws up certain installations, (or at least that's what I have experienced myself). Good luck "WebWalker" <> wrote in message news:... > On 24 Jan 2004 22:06:05 GMT, ospam (MBell7239 > wrote: > > > I installed MS Office 2000 on some new pc's with WinXP Pro. I think you mean "Small Business Edition". Office Professional version or higher includes MS Access. |
