I recently installed a 3rd Hard Drive (160 Gig IBM) on my new system
and partitioned it to have 30 gigs for the first partition. This is also my C Drive now and(it actually ended up with 28 gigs). The second partition became my E Drive and only ended up with 103 Gigs of Space on it. I know the partition takes up some space but it shouldn't take up 29 Gigs, right? The Bios recognizes the drive as a 160 gig HD but it doesn't add to 160 in Windows 2000 Professional OS. So where is that other space? System also feels like it is choking to transfer data from hard drives but not when processing from Memory. Anyone know what happened and how I can fix this? Thanks, Gary garygq@yahoo.com |

Sounds like you don't have the proper support for a drive that is larger
than 137GB. You need one of the latest service packs for Win2K, and a compatible BIOS in order to have the 48bit LBA support necessary for a drive that large. ... <> wrote in message news: om... > I recently installed a 3rd Hard Drive (160 Gig IBM) on my new system > and partitioned it to have 30 gigs for the first partition. HD makers lie about the size by using a different definition of GB than computers do. Do you see the other space in Disk Management? -- AIM: FrznFoodClerk email: de_on-lag@co_cast.net (_ = m) website: under construction Need a technician in the south Jersey area? email/IM for rates/services |

Makes it im****ible (yes, im****ible) to recover data whenthe drive fails. BTW, i bet you never backup... |
