I had a lot of data (powerpoint, wave, avi, ect) on my HD that I lost. I
accidently formatted the wrong HD. I partitioned the HD quite a few times but I didn't put anything on it except WINXP. What would be the best way to recover the data on my hard drive? It is currently split into two partitions of which one is hidden. The HD was originally only one partition. Johan Wagener |

If the stuff is very valuable, a professional recovery service might get some of it back for you, but you are realistically looking at a bill of several thousand dollars. BB |

Stop using the drive immediately and install it as a slave on another
system. You want to get a program called "Recover my files." You can run a preview and see if the program can find anything before you buy it. I've used this program and it is very effective. If the data wasn't over written by the XP install, this app will find it or what's left of it. I highly recommend it. It's very important that you slave the drive and install the recovery program on the primary disc. When you start the app, you'll be given the option of what drive search, then choose the hard drive with the missing files. http://www.recovermyfiles.com/ BTW, the app is only 69.99 and free to preview, so you've got nothing to lose. I'm not affiliated to them in any way, just amazed at the program. I already manage to preview some of the files using Recover My Files. It is
only a shareware program though so I can't recover anything yet. The program however does find files on one of the partitions <BinaryBillTheSailor@Sea++.com> wrote in message news:... > On Sun, 4 Jan 2004 11:34:13 +0200, "Johan Wagener" > <200234315(removethis)@ctech.ac.za> wrote: > > >I had a lot of data (powerpoint, wave, avi, ect) on my HD that I lost. If the program found something in the preview, than you buy it and it allows you to then actually recover the data. Just be aware that even though the program can find and recover files, the files may be damaged. > <BinaryBillTheSailor@Sea++.com> wrote in message > news:... > > On Sun, 4 Jan 2004 11:34:13 +0200, "Johan Wagener" > > <200234315(removethis)@ctech.ac.za> wrote: > > > > >I had a lot of data (powerpoint, wave, avi, ect) on my HD that I lost.
