Default FSB, what is it?

I get an error:
"FSB exceeds chipset rated speed. Reduce FSB."

what does it mean? Is the PC overclocked? I dont think it is.

Front Side Bus. It means that the chip is overclocked.

Example, a 1GHz CPU has a 100MHz FSB with a multiplier of 10. If the front
side bus is overclocked to 133MHz, the CPU speed would increase to 1.3GHz.
133FSB x 10Multiplier = 1,333MHz or as it is rounded off, 1.3GHz. The FSB
can sometimes be overclocked in increments of 1MHz and even this may trigger
the warning your getting.

Give more info. What CPU and where are you getting the warning.

someone gave me an old pc, its a 200mhz.
I used an app, and it gave me that warning.
but no other app such as Norton Utilities, says that. The mult is set at 66 I
think, but how do I check if its overclocked?

This is a false alarm. If you check with something like Sandra or Aida32,
it may tell you that the FSB is overspec. However, often this just means
that the max is 66 mhz and the actual clock is 67 mhz (as things are almost
never precise). I get the exact same error on my KT7 RAID, and on my now
dead 8KHA+. Don't worry about it.

Oh, I wouldn't be concerned about that at all then.

Just out of curiosity, which app?

Norton Utilities suck. That app will literally leach whatever processing
power a 200MHz box has into it's misconfigured innards and steal away any
usefulness and enjoyment you may have been able to get from the machine.

The multiplier is 3, FSB is 66. If it's running OK, don't worry about it but
oyu can DL an app which can tell you. Demon mentioned 2. Just Google them.
