Error message

I have just purchased an mp3 writer and it is supposed to be connected
to the 25 pin cable between the parallel port and the printer. The
problem is my printer uses a usb connection so I pluged the mp3 writer
into the 25 pin parallel port and I get an error message
"communication error"

The shop tells me that I need to set my parralel port up to LPT2

Can anyone please expain in detail how to do this.
