I use firebird and thunderbird exclusively now...maybe the newest
versions will solve your problems. They pretty much make a folder and
run, no installation necessary. If it doesn't work, delete it.

I did all that. Unzipped in a new folder. The problem was there was a screen
to take my password and user log on, but the radio buttons wouldn't work. I
used the newest build, too........Anyway, I'm leaning to getting Win lite
and buying Opera right now. I haven't updated Win98SE in 3 years!

Opera is really nice too...has pretty much all the bases covered,
but is a little slower because of all of that overhead. I would still
recommend it though. What site are you trying to get on BTW? Maybe I
can check it here.

And if the latest version doesn't work you can always fall back to an
older one-even NS 4.7 is better than IE6 IMO. (And NS 7.1 or Moz 1.4
*certainly* is.)

Firebird does not have any mail/news capabilities, maybe this is why it
wouldn't take your password?

Since I am on cable, I have no logging in. When I was on dial up, I dialed
and logged in using Windows' built in Dial Up Networking.

Have you tried dialing up using Dial Up Networking? Firebird is a browser,
not an operating system, not a networking program, all it does is browse
the web.

OK, got all that. Went back to the Mozilla site and checked. Sure enough, it
was the mail prog I DL..............and then I said, OK, let's go for it. I
dL the whole enchilada, Mozilla 1.5. It installed fine, and works fine, NG
and mail, too. The reason I'm not using it is I can't figure out how to
change the home page to google (rather than Mozilla). It has some other
quirks I'm trying to figure out right now. I'm also playing with
Pegasus........Thanks for the red ass

Go to google.com. Drag the little thing on the lefthand side of the URL
bar to the "Home" button. Say OK. Or, Edit, Preferences, Change the start
page.....
