Default PestPatrol issues in 98

Thought this might be of intrest to anyone running this software on a 98SE
system.

I've now installed PestPatrol by using a download from ca home &
office/support centre accessed using my user name and password. This version
is PestPatrol r8.This works ok if running 98SE.

I purchased a retail version of PestPatrol about 4 months ago and installed
on a Win 98SE system.
I recently noticed that the update while being dowloaded and applied didn't
change the dat file date they remained atb 22/9/04

The version I was advised to install by Computer Associates
http://consumerdownloads-west.ca.com...PestPatrol.exe crashed
PestPatrol when the update tried to apply. Couldn't open it anymore after
that.

The retail version when installed on 98SE (no issues with Windows XP)
downloads updates and appear to apply but the dat file dates don't change
from 22/09/04.

All this I've tested on two 98SE PC's.

In summarising there seemed to be issues with both the original retail cd
version and the version from
http://consumerdownloads-west.ca.com...PestPatrol.exe on a
Windows 98SE system.Only Version r8 works.

I wonder how many others out there have installed from the retail cd on
Windows 98SE and think PestPatrol is updating correctly.
The dat. file dates can be checked by clicking "About" on the welcome
screen.

As I said Win XP has no issues.
