Default Pointsec PC and Ghost

Hi there!

I have a rather simple question, probably someone has already
experienced what I waht to achieve.

I have a laptop with PointSec PC (aka EHDE PointSec) installed on it,
and would like to take the habit to back it up with a disk cloning
tool, like Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image.

Is anyone aware of any issues with their use together? I would like to
understand if I can restore a system backed up while PointSec is
running.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Best Regards,
Stefano

Ghost works most easily when backing up a full drive rather than
just a boot partition (although just the boot partition CAN be
ghosted).

To backup an entire boot drive just be sure to use the -ir switch
(with Ghost operating from Dos on disk, CD, USB drive, etc. and
the main Windows OS not booted). You will need as much room on
the backup media as the original drive (since encryption doesn't
compress).

Most Symantec programs are nasty bloatware - Norton anti-virus
which puts down roots very deep is one example.

Ghost, however, while not the most convenient of the image
programs (Acronis Trueimage gets that gold star), does permit the
most "fine-grained" control over the backup with respect to such
things as boot tracks and partition tables through its DOS
switches, forcing true "sector by sector" backup. For that
reason Ghost is particularly suitable for making images of
encrypted drives.

Some versions of Ghost did (do?) have one nasty habit, however:
they "imprint" each drive with a fingerprint. (You could deny it
permission to do this, though.)
