Single machine Running xp pro, cable modem, virus protection and when I go
to shut down I get other users logged on prompt. How would I go about investigating the cause of this ? JJ |

It means you were logged on, and left the machine,
and it went back to the login screen. The Other user is you. No biggie. Just some more annoying Microsoft Jargon. johns johns |

I have many XP Pro machines, are you running in Fast Switch mode - meaning that you have a nice window that lets other users logon when you have not logged out yet? If there are no other local accounts currently logged on to your computer, then it's someone accessing it across the internet, which is a BAD thing. -- -- (Remove 999 to reply to me) Leythos |

Apparently, XP doesn't inform you if someone has open files on your computer when you decide to shutdown. I stand corrected. Micheal Robert Zium |

If you have a Windows XP Professional computer, and users are making active use of the shares, then you shut-down you get a warning. I've seen in many times. -- -- (Remove 999 to reply to me) Leythos |

Only if he has activated "sharing" .. which he has not, or he would not be asking this question. XP doesn't share anything by default, and why would anybody open shares over a modem .. or a dsl ? In any event, he can look at any connections in Administrative Tools .. Sessions, and see if somebody has attached. johns johns |

START/SETTINGS/CONTROL PANEL/ADMINSTRATIVE TOOLS/LOCAL SECURITY POLICY/LOCAL POLICIES/AUDIT POLICY There's probably a quicker way to get there, but that's what I use. Have a look at the different types of logging options available. Cordially, Kleeb. Kleeb |
