Default McAfee unstable on XP perhaps ?

Is anyone managing to run McAfee current version Firewall, their Viruscan 7,
their current Spamkiller all ok and enabled on WinXP home?
I initially had this but with Viruscan 8, and Security Centre icon remained
red indicating all enabled. Then discovering Viruscan 8 had no exclusion
option anymore (essential for gaming prog addresses [especially if gaming
online], graphics progs, scanners etc for max performance) McAfee suggested
I run with V7 until V9 comes out with the option re-introduced....BUT
loading this Fwall,Vscan7,SpamK combination (in that order)onto a clean PC
(never having seen McAfee on it) the Spamkiller install caused Security
Centre to go black, it shows Viruscan as disabled. Click Enable and it says
'do you wish to disable' !!! ...ignore this and disable, it truly is
disable so not a misnomer. Two fixes offered so far by them fail to fix it.
Two fresh PC's and installs and still doing it.
Have they got a combination here that wont play ball together ?

What I need to know is, is anyone running current Firewall and Spamkiller
versions with Viruscan7 (last years version) successfully on WinXP. I cannot
progress with my PC build and ghost copy this current situation until this
is solved, and after 6 weeks I am ****ed off, never known a PC build take
this long !

What other viruscanner allows exclusion of addresses on the PC from being
scanned. Scanning slows up progs, flight sims, graphics progs, and putting
their addresses in the exclusion window is essential and I have used it
since 3.1, I shall willingly depart McAfee if there is another prog that
offers this ?
Disabling the viruscanning prog then going online for gaming is sheer
stupidity of course and they have boobed with V8, reintroducing it in V9. In
fact Firewall, Viruscan8 and Spamkiller ran fine.
