Computer Security - Anonymizer privacy?

Default Anonymizer privacy?

Quick question. How much actual privacy do you get with Anonymizer? If
the US Govt wanted to bug you, would they merely request Anonymizer
tap your communications, or would they have to go to court and get an
order to do so?

Are there any public statistics or information on how many court
orders or law enforcement requests have been served on Anonymizer (or
COTSE for that matter) for user wiretaps, say within the last year?
Are such statistics secret?

Anonymizer seem very "in" with the Govt, but there isn't much that can
be done about that, since the Govt by definition can wiretap whoever
it pleases without the tappee even knowing about it.

Theoretically the Govt could place a Carnivore device on Anonymizer's
upstream ISP to look at the cleartext, but that would still render
some traffic eg some web browsing non correlatable to particular user.

Supposedly the govt needs a warrant but what if the govt is running the
business? I remember years ago anonymous remailers in other countries that
were run by the CIA.

Philip Zimmermann, Creator of Pretty Good Privacy (PGP), is listed as
an adviser. That lends some credibility, surely.

Perhaps he's never encountered Anonymizer customer (dis)service or he
might rethink being associated with them

You never know. I wouldn't use an anonymizer because it would take less of
my sense of security than giving.
