I was wondering if any of you Spybot users were able to get any updates? My
Spybot keeps reporting that there's no new update for over 2-3 months now, which I find very odd. -- R Green Tech Support ---------------------- WoWsat.com ---------------------- R Green - WoWsat.com |

Might be that you're using an older version (?). Dazz Dazz |

I do find Spybot's updating quite bad in general though. I frequently get files with bad CRCs and sometimes the update process just hangs too. It's fairly unpredictable compared to others such as Ad-aware's. Kerodo |

I am not able to get an update now. The "about" shows that the latest
detection update is Feb 2, 2004, instead of Feb 26 as indicated in this message. It does "appear" to hang, but it's still doing it's work in the background and after a minute or two (or more if you're on 56k dialup), it does return. Dazz >-- Dazz |

The latest Spybot 'includes' update is Feb 2, 2004. The Feb 26 update in the OP's post is an .ini file; Why that's being updated on his system so often does seem a bit strange, but if you download it from the links he provides and open it in notepad this is what it shows about the latest 'includes' update on his system: [Detection rules] Info=Updated detections (700k) MinBuild=20030316 Date=2004-02-02 <========= Importance=Hoch URL=http://studserver.uni-dortmund.de/~su1669/spybotsd/includes.zip <===== LocalFile=includes.zip DestinationFolder=Includes\ Checksum=8F6A67910A50D5695583C2607D1994FF Mirrors="Rootboxen.net (USA)","Safer-Networking #1 (Europe)","Safer-Networking #2 (Europe)","Safer-Networking #3 (Europe)","UniDo (Europe)","EON (Australia)","FXClips (USA)" -- mlvburke@#%&*.net.nz Replace the obvious with paradise to email me. Make sure you're going to the source. The links that I give are first, the
download location and second, the company that makes and supports the software. Spybot Search and Destroy http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10...age&tag=button http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download AdAware6 http://download.com.com/3000-8022-10...ml?tag=lst-0-1 http://www.lavasoft.de/ There are now some posers out there and may or may not have the correct software. Some actually put spyware on your machine. Also you should make sure you don't have any virus on your system. A couple of the newer ones block the spybot and adaware sites. You also might check out "news.grc.com" groups to see what is going on there. Good Luck, vic --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Version: 6.0.596 / Virus Database: 379 - Release Date: 2/26/2004 vic |
