Hi, Apologies if this is the wrong group for this posting.
I am looking for advice onto how to become a technical investigator or a computer forensic examiner within a uk law enforcement agency. I have applied for positions but have so far been unsuccessful. Background is 5+ years in networks, lan\wan, security, configs, server admin, etc.. everything everyone does when employed as Network Analyst\Administrator.... I have read numerous books on the subject, Computer Forensics : Incident Response Essentials, Cyber Forensics: A Field Manual for Collecting, Examining, and Preserving Evidence of Computer Crimes amongst others. Current employer is not willing to pay for courses\training, currently unable to pay for them myself either and with no guarantee of work after completion, i am not willing to go into loans etc. So what can i do? I am determined to work in this field and have not given up hope, i have worked my through the junior IT positions to more senior positions, but im keen for a career move now. I would be willing to start in a junior position to learn the ways, im only 26 so its not like im too old to start again, but its just getting the opportunity. Sorry for the ramble, any advice greatly appreciated. miller |

You can find a link to the (ISC)2 site as well as many other IT security related sites below http://safeit.ca/securitylinks.htm I hope you will find some information that will assist you.
