I obtained a larger hard drive and it is real pain to wipe it as it takes
many hours now. I cleaned the HD and installed BestCrypt on the HD
creating a manageable size area for "sensitive" data. Within the container
I setup a Virtual PC running MSVirtualPC, which is really not that bad -
compared to the Connectix Version, so I can run a totally self-contained PC
on my XP box for the data and not get my HD contaminated with the data.
My question is this - supposedly the container is unbreakable, but I would
not want to trust that. If I were to quickly ZAP the disk by writing to
the header area and leaving the rest untouched, would I feel safe enough
not to the wipe the whole disk? Or would wiping the container that is
set on a partition just for it - be better so as to be unrecoverable, along
with of course a wipe of the free space for that partition.
Thoughts...
Thanx.
