What would be the cheapest way for me to get VPN functioning on a 2600 box.

Thanks

Either buy the IOS FW/IPSec featurepack or do not use the 2600 and buy a
Pix506e. Whichever is cheaper. Keep in mind that implmenting VPN on the
2600, without the hardware encryption accellerator (AIM-card), will
defenitely bog down the forwarding performance of the 2600. Limited use at
low bandwidth will be ok though.

ix506e. Whichever is cheaper.

As 'cheapest' was asked for: a PIX 501 would be less expensive than
a PIX 506e. The 501 has lower throughput, a lower limit on VPN
tunnels (10), and serves a limit number of hosts (10, 50, unlimited).
But it's cheaper.

If we are talking external boxes, though, then we should ask more
about what is meant by 'VPN' in the context. It is possible in
the context that something on the order of a Netgear / D-Link /
Linksys cable/modem firewall with VPN would do.
