I have NetBarrier.
Is there a website that has info on which PORTS are for what (TCP,UDP,ICMP) I keep getting a UDP Port 1434 when I visit certain websites - mainstream ones, not personal, etc. What is this port for? -- Snake-Eyes (nickname) AT mchsi DOT com Snake-Eyes |

If you're too scared to go look for yourself, ask me about COTSE. I'd be happy to tell you about it. |

That particular one is MS SQLserver. ICMP is a different protocol (i.e. don't think of it in the same way as TCP and UDP, in having ports) -- Hairy One Kenobi Disclaimer: the opinions expressed in this opinion do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the highly-opinionated person expressing the opinion in the first place. OOPS! I forgot to mention that I am a Mac user.
I am using an OLD computer - PowerPC 7100/66 AV. (66 means 66Mhz!) I keep laughing at anybody who complains about yEnc, Worms, and .SRC viruses -- Snake-Eyes (nickname) AT mchsi DOT com On Mon, 1 Dec 2003 4:14:26 -0600, Doc Jeff ] wrote (in message <>): > On Mon, 01 Dec 2003 09:15:07 GMT, Snake-Eyes <Who_Am_I?@amnesia.com> > wrote: > >> I have NetBarrier. >> Is there a website that has info on which PORTS are for what >> (TCP,UDP,ICMP) >> >> I keep getting a UDP Port 1434 when I visit certain websites - >> mainstream ones, not personal, etc. >> What is this port for? > > f:\>cd Storage\Text > > f:\storage\text>grep 1434 port-numbers.txt > ms-sql-m 1434/tcp Microsoft-SQL-Monitor > ms-sql-m 1434/udp Microsoft-SQL-Monitor > > > Looks like someone is trying to see if you have MS SQL and to see if > they can exploit it. > > |

There is a great site that will tell you more than you could want to know about all the ports. http://www.google.com or http://www.ietf.org/rfc.html -- ___________ John Holmes |
