Default CASM logMine v1.2 released under GNU GPL


Network Security Operations Corp. (NSOco) is pleased
to announce the availability of the Critical Asset
Security Manager (CASM) logMine Utility Version 1.2

The CASM logMine utility was created as a security
auditing and analysis tool for system administrators
and security auditors. Although initially created
for UNIX syslog files, logMine supports virtually
any ASCII file and therefore is applicable to any
number of system or application files such as firewall
or web logs.


[System Requirement]
logMine is written entirely in UNIX Korn Shell and AWK,
so it should run on basically any UNIX derivative and
Apache/HTTPd.

WEB: Apache 1.3/2.0

The CASM logMine utility is free software; you can
redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the
GNU General Public License as published by the Free
Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License,
or any later version.

- Web-based presentation for common user interface to
log files
- Cooperative server/browser application to minimize and
distribute processing
- Provides a consistent security auditing analysis tool
to different log formats
- Able to analyze a wide variety of system and application
log types
- Frequency bar-graphs of each field provide a visual
means to help identify patterns or anomalous activity
- Add or remove fields from display via check boxes
- Links provided to easily zoom in or filter out rows
based on individual field values
- Data and methods integrated in analysis page for local
browser analysis
- Display the log in either normal or fixed column format
- Interfaces to NSOco's CASM Shield for file collection
