Default PCI-E Air Cards

Hello
I have a problem and am at the end of my rope, I just purchased a HP pavillion dv1680ca, Thee point of getting the laptopwas the fact that I need to be "truely" wireless. So I bought an air card for it and signed up on a plan ( I live in Canada, the wireless company is called Telus) The problem I'm having is that the dv1680 has no PCI slot on the side, it has a PCI-E slot and there are ( to my knowledge) no PCI-E air card, now the people where I bought the laptop, and at Telus all gave me that look when presented with the problem ( you the look a saleman gives you when you explain what you want and its obvious they dont know the first thing about computers). I figure I need one of two things, 1) an adapter that will change PCI to PCI-E or 2) and external PCI slot that would hook up via USB or IEEE 1394. At this point i just need something that will adapt the card to run on the laptop, if anyone knows of such a product or has any advice, PLEASE!!, I'm one step away from siting in a clock tower with something high powered, preferably bolt action (joking) It is a hobby of mine to build/fix computers but have limited knowledge of laptops, so please keep this in mind if I seem a little slow, thanks
