Default Problem Restoring a Profile

I recently re-installed XP on my computer, and in the process of
backing up all my information, I simply saved my profile folder in the
AppData path. I did NOT however create a profile for that folder.

Now that I've reinstalled Firefox, I put that folder in it's proper
place and it doesn't recognize it. In fact, when I start Firefox, it
says the program's already running when it really isn't.

My question is how can I restore all of my
settings/bookmarks/extensions inside that profile folder now? I
haven't found anything on the firefox website that has worked thus far.
THANKS!

andrew

when you close FF and you get that a message that FF is still running,
it may not be visible, but its still running in the background. Check
in the task manager [ctrl+alt+del] and see if its still running there.
If it is then end it.

There's one of two ways of doing this. First way is create the
profile first, then copy all the old stuff over to the new one.

The other way, is to use the FF Profile Manager and point to the old
profile. To do that, first make sure FF is closed, then click on
Start, Run and enter exactly:

firefox.exe -p
