I have a wireless connection which works fine to access the internet with my
PC which is wired directly to the router and a Laptop which is wireless. The PC is running XP Pro with all updates installed and I also use Norton Internet Security. The Laptop is running XP Home with all updates and no firewall "the windows firewall is disabled". I cannot not share files with either computer, I have run the network wizard on both computers and do not have any passwords or logins set. I get the following error message when trying to see the network: MShome is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available. I ran the IPcongiguration cmd and this is the settings for both computers: Windows IP Configuration PC: Laptop: Host Name: larry-vghd6pa7 ............... D62VXZ51 Primary Dns Suffix: Node Type: Unknown ................. Hybrid IP Routing Enabled: No ................No WINS Proxy Enabled: No ................ No DNS Suffix Search List: hsd1.wa.comcast.net. .......Same Ethernet adapter Local Area Connections: Connection-specific DNS Suffix: hsda.wa.comcast.net. .....Same Description: Sis 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter Physical Address: 00-E0-18-A6-6C-62 ..........00-13-46-03-40-38 Dhcp Enabled: Yes ..................Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled: Yes ..............Yes IP Address: 192.168.0.146 .................192.168.0.198 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 ................Same Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1 .............. Same DHCP Server: 192.168.0.1 ................ Same DNS Servers: 192.168.0.1 ............... Same Lease Obtained: Lease Expires: I also read the comment about the LAN setting for the firewall but really don't know how to open the range of addresses. If you could give me some guidance it would be appreciated. -- Larry D Gibbs WWW.LarryGibbs.com Only left handed people are in their right mind. Larry D Gibbs |

I actually figured out what was wrong by myself. It turned out to be my
firewall settings.
