I run a Dell Dimension 4700 with WinXP. On my network are 2 laptops
connected by a wireless D-LInk router which is directly connected to the desktop Dell. I have had no problems for 2 yrs until this morning. I can connect to the internet with both laptops but am unable to connect with the desktop. I spent 1 hour on the phone with D-Link trying numerous configurations with no luck. The router seems to be working fine (replies to pings) but when I ping with the desktop (cmd), nothing. My internet only works if I directly connect to the modem. Techie suggested that since the router does work, I might have a corrupted Winsock. Went to Microsoft found instructions on how to check, and it doesn't look as if I have. I am competely stumped. Cannot do a system restore as I deleted some program files and it will not restore. The only thing I can think of that I did last night was intstall a DVD burning program. Nothing worked right after that so I uninstalled it using a Clean Tool for the product. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could try next?? Thanks in advance, Dee =?Utf-8?B?ZGlwc3Rlcg==?= |

Try unplugging the power to the router and wait 10 seconds and then power up

Thanks for the reply.. I tried that first before I put the call into D-Link. The router IS working for the 2 wireless laptops on my home network, just not the desktop it is directly connected to. That is why they feel it is a problem on the destop.
