Default Problem with host computer connecting to internet

I run a Dell Dimension 4700 with WinXP. On my network are 2 laptops
connected by a wireless D-LInk router which is directly connected to the
desktop Dell. I have had no problems for 2 yrs until this morning. I can
connect to the internet with both laptops but am unable to connect with the
desktop. I spent 1 hour on the phone with D-Link trying numerous
configurations with no luck. The router seems to be working fine (replies to
pings) but when I ping with the desktop (cmd), nothing. My internet only
works if I directly connect to the modem. Techie suggested that since the
router does work, I might have a corrupted Winsock. Went to Microsoft found
instructions on how to check, and it doesn't look as if I have. I am
competely stumped. Cannot do a system restore as I deleted some program files
and it will not restore. The only thing I can think of that I did last night
was intstall a DVD burning program. Nothing worked right after that so I
uninstalled it using a Clean Tool for the product.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could try next??

Thanks in advance,
Dee

Try unplugging the power to the router and wait 10 seconds and then power up
again this worked for me.

Thanks for the reply..
I tried that first before I put the call into D-Link. The router IS working
for the 2 wireless laptops on my home network, just not the desktop it is
directly connected to. That is why they feel it is a problem on the destop.
