Ok, now that I have your attention..... I can only connect wirelessly to
my wireless access point when the encryption security is disabled. I have tried both WEP and WPA and different key words of the proper number of letters. My laptop attempts to connect but its no-go and timesout. Any ideas or suggestions? I have several close neighbors with encrypted wireless networks. Could this be the problem? I am currently on the default channel 11. If I change the channel on the access point, do I need to change something on the laptop too? Thanks in advance. Fred ff |

Are you positive you're setting the same password and encryption type on the
router and your laptop ?? MD "ff" wrote: > Ok, now that I have your attention..... Aloha ff,
What operating system are you using? What brand and model of network adapter and wireless router? -Ben- Ben M. On the laptop, try entering the key number generated on the router instead
of a password - use only Key #1. Doug Sherman MCSE, MCSA, MCP+I, MVP "ff" <> wrote in message news:1oHig.22292$. com... > Ok, now that I have your attention..... Aloha ff,
I don't think it'll matter which computer you use to configure the router. Neither one will connect wirelessly though when you have encryption turned on? Do you have all the latest SPs installed on the machines? -Ben- Ben M. Schorr - MVP http://www.rolandschorr.com Microsoft OneNote FAQ: http://www.factplace.com/onenotefaq.htm > Ben M. First, it is not necessary to "get someone's attention". You need to
post details of your router brand, model, hardware revision, firmware version and your operating system, wireless card and driver version. You should not have to change anything on the laptop if you change the channel on the router/AP. On Sat, 10 Jun 2006 22:06:53 GMT, ff <> wrote: >Ok, now that I have your attention.....
