I don't think it is..
But my ISP, Optonline says it is. No problem though.. I don't believe a word they utter or print. Uttered.. Think of it as an Interstate Highway.. Traffic jams.. They want to bring the cloud into the act.. - Summary of Trouble shooting Clean up my system. Disable Firewalls. The rest of their LIES are attached. for comments. (Forgive the typos, I needed to OCR them from images on their site.) --------------------------------------- Service Definitions --------------------------------------- Below is an overview of the various Internet service connections that are available. While connection speed will vary, our cable modem service regularly performs faster than the others lFsted In the unlikely event it does not, Speed Check will provide suggestions for how to improve it. Cable Modem Internet Service: Cable Modem Internet Service is provided usmg a DOCSIS cable modem on a two Way hybrid fiber coaxial cable teleconimunicatons network. This high speed Internet Service is up tO 100 times faster than a standard dial-up connection. Dial-Up: A dial-up connection is a telephone connection. It can be initated manually or automatically by your computers modem Or other device. DSL: Digital Subscriber Line is a technology that uses existing telephone wiring to dehver high.speed data services to homes and businesses. Offering Users a choice of speeds ranging from 144Kbps to 1.5 Mbps. The technology provides Internet access that is 2.5 to 25 times faster than a standard 56Kbps dial-up modem. Satellite: With a satellite internet connection, data is transmitted to and from your computer using specialized receiver/tansriitters that orbit around the earth. T1: A T1 connection Is a category of leased telephone line service, allowing tianster rates of 1.5 Mbps over the Internet. This type of connection is usualiy very expensive for home users, but is commonly found in business environrients, Kbps = kilobits per second Mbps = megabits per sscond The above are based on figures recorded and reported by DSL Reports. --------------------------------- Top Speed Related Questions --------------------------------- Question: Is my download speed slow because there are too many people on the network? Answer: Our network Is designed to prevent this from happenlng, and is modifled as needed. Question: Why does speed vary on the network? Answer: Many possible reasons exist. Two or the more common are: The number of people accessing the site is causinq traffic on the site or network or your computer's memory allocation (RAM). It is possible to run a speed test ten times in a row and get ten different results. However, the results will still be faster then other comparable-priced residential ISPs. Question: Could my computer be causing slow speeds! Answer: Your computer's hardware and software configuration can have an effect on your speed. This includes your computer's processor speed and how much memory (RAM) you have installed. Running multiple programs can also use up memory and slow the loading of web pages. For information on improving your speed by shutting down fire walls or clearing temporary Internet files, please see question: How can I make my connection speed faster? below. 1.
