Default adsl and firewalls

Hi.
Changed from ISDN to ADSL, and afterwords not possible to stealth all
my ports (99 percent show closed, rest stealth). Have tried several
firewalls, same results. I am connected via something they call NAT,
has this someting to say ? With ISDN all ports were stealthed.
Thanks for answers,
John

John,

My guess is that you are not behind a NAT router or your ports would be
STEALTHED. When on ISDN I would imagine that your ISP provided the NAT
that you needed which blocked ALL inbound. With DSL, just because it's
NAT does not mean that they don't forward ALL inbound ports - NAT allows
for that.

Get yourself a hardware router (Linksys, DLink, etc...) from BestBuy,
CompUSA, etc.. and install it. Once you do it will show stealth on all
ports and you won't have to worry any more.

The best hardware router i have used for home networking is the Linksys
Etherfast Cable/Dsl Router.
