My computer repair friend says this advice will render my PC inoperable.
True ? Thanks.

Can your friend be more specific?

They offer a ton of suggestions. Which one(s)?

It's a long list of familiar items. I did not examine the detailed
description of every one, but the collection itself looks ok (and more
complete than most home user security checklists).

Security usually comes at the expense of functionality and convenience.
Many of the suggestions there will reduce both, many could be inappropriate
for your configuration. It should _not_ be applied blindly, nor should it
used by a non-technical user without full understanding of what they are
doing.
