Hi,
If I used a wireless internet connection, say via cell phone, is it possible for someone with the right equipment to intercept and view my activity? Thanks in advance, Brad Tip for your old computer (reduce discard pollution too): If you can't sell your old computer, don't throw it away. Use it to backup your software by transferring files/folders from your new computer or laptop to it. I transferred my Windows folder and other stuff to my old computer using "PC Link", which I downloaded from www.simtel.net (cool site). http://www.simtel.net/pub/dl/52792.shtml (info or download) Brad Petria |

Yes, it is very possible, and very likely. Cell phone communications aren't secure for a start, and can be listened in on. If you were using a wireless connection, say between your cell phone and a laptop, there's still the chance that can also be listened in on, but of course, you can use some form of encryption, but even this can still be circumvented. But even if no-one is listening in on your cell phone, or trying to listen in on your wireless communication, then you're still going through a number of networks (ranging from your cell phone network, to the ISP, and to whatever resource you're connecting to), and that will be leaving traces of where you've been and what you've done, even across secure channels of communication. So, yes, it is very possible. Dazz > Thanks in advance, Brad > > Tip for your old computer (reduce discard pollution too): > > If you can't sell your old computer, don't throw it away. Its certainly +possible+ but the people who are likely to be capable of doing it are going to be the intelligence agencies who can in any event intercept the traffic better at the switch. BUT its an expensive business and you have to be in business with Bin Liner to make it worthwhile. If you are, or your name is Hussein and you have a moustach be worried, very worried. -- Jim Watt http://www.gibnet.com |

The technical response varies based upon what mobile telephone system you are utilizing. Analog? TDMA? CDMA? GSM? And, if GSM, which A3, A5, and A8 algorithms is your provider utilizing?
