Default MY IP BLOCK LIST

I live in the USA and my friends/clients are also only in the USA. I'm
lucky enough to have a very nice firewall appliance and thought I would
pass along my block list:

I monitor my logs ever day and find that I block about 80% of the crap
sent my way that I don't want to hit my systems.

Have fun with the list.

Jim,

I've traveled all over the world, making friends in some remote
locations, and I must say that I would never want to live anyplace other
than the USA. I find that most people from other locations, when they
actually come here don't want to go back to their native land, unless
they've made a boat load of money here and want to go back to live out
the good life in their own country.

The reason I posted my location was so that someone outside the USA
didn't use the block list and find that they could not get local
traffic.

Can you document that? My experience does not support that at all. I know a
few dozen people over the years that have gone to the US to work and
they've all come back. If you're talking about third world countries I'm
not surprised. That would likely be the case regardless of what developed
country one took statistics from. But if your meaning is that over 50% of
people from other countries with decent economies going to the US on
temporary work visas reapply for permanent visas I'd be fairly surprised if
you're correct.

No, I recognise that you are a serious character and it is valid
to make the point that the advice is good for the USA only.

Its a big place, some parts are excellent and some third world
each to their own.

Jim,
For the record: I don't have a problem with ANYONE from ANYWHERE. I just
provided the list to help people block probes/hackers from areas that I
know are making more than just casual attempts. I qualified the
information so that people would be able to determine if the block list
would be right for them.

I have a reasonable block list and get asked to provide it for a lot of
clients - I thought some here might make use of it too.

Mark
