Can anyone recommend a good firewall for XP? At the moment I
only have the windows xp firewall running. I know this isn't a proper firewall but i've never had a problem with it. I'm very careful about what I download and scan everything etc. I'd still like a firewall to monitor what apps access the internet and see what ports are being hit. What I don't want is some annoying program that is going to popup every 5 minutes and bother me. I want something that doesnt take up much resources either. I can't really be bothered to get a hardware based firewall, I am not on a network so aint got a router or anything. Cheddar |

I paid the 29.95 for the pro version and it has been solid. I couldn't even connect my computer to the internal network without enabling NetBIOS traffic! Its a winner in my book! |

Someone else posted a link to Kerio Personal Firewall, which is one of the better free firewalls. It's less resource intensive then ZoneAlarm as well, and is very easy to configure. Dazz |

At least on Windows XP it isn't bad. On Windows 98, it could be a lot more intensive. Dino |
