Seems to me the first thing for you to do would be to register on Sygate's
Tech Support forums at
http://forums.sygatetech.com/vb/foru...c3092eb6001724
8471df9&forumid=6 .

I think the problem that you are experiencing may be related to the fact
that you're using the free version of Sygate rather than the Pro version,
but that's just speculation on my part since I don't use Sygate. For
example, it's fairly well known that the free version of Zone Alarm doesn't
work with ICS, unless you downgrade its security settings.

It might also be worth your while to take a look at Sygate Home Network
(SHN) as a possible replacement for ICS. Again, I've no direct experience,
but the individuals with whom I've corresponded who've used both tend to
find SHN more usable.

And, if you're running ICS on a Win 98 SE gateway (as I am), then you most
definitely want to take a look at Harley Acheson's ICSConfig utility.

Still, if you've got the money and are on cable or DSL, I must admit I'd go
with the router. Things can get a bit touchy at times with ICS and it can
be something of a chore to reconfigure your network without screwing
something up. Take it from me: I've got three PCs (all with different
operating systems) and had two others not long ago. If you pull the gateway
machine out of the network or need to take it in for maintenance, you'll
find out the exquisite joys of having to reconfigure ICS quite quickly. <g>
