Anyone else have a problem with the latest update of Firefox
where you select txt from a webpage (or indeed the URL in the address bar), rightclick, click COPY, and when you go to paste it hasn't copied it? Never happened at all before the update, now it happens a few times every day. Edwierd |

When you say 'it hasnt copied it' is the "Paste As Quotation" available? What may be occurring is that the copy included HTML and/or formatting, and as such a simple "Paste" command isnt available, but you can paste the material using "Paste As Quotation" instead. |

Would that not depend on which app the OP was pasting it into? > What may be occurring is that the copy included HTML and/or formatting, > and as such a simple "Paste" command isnt available, but you can paste > the material using "Paste As Quotation" instead. If so, why isn't Firefox putting the data on the clipboard in multiple formats -- including plain text format -- like Firefox normally does? When I select, right-click, and copy from Firefox, data is put on the clipboard in each and every one of these clipboard formats: DataObject text/html HTML Format text/_mos_htmlcontext text/_moz_htmlinfo Unicode Text Text FileGroupDescriptor FileGroupDescriptorW FileContents UniformResourceLocator UniformResourceLocatorW OLE Private Data Locale OEM Text -- Cheers, Ralph "Curiosity skilled the cat." |

Depends (as Ralph said) on the target application. As near as I can tell Firefox has no "Paste as Quotation" function. Thunderbird and the Mozilla/SeaMonkey Mail clients do. In Firefox I can copy text from a Web page and paste it to other apps. Notepad has one option: "Paste". Word has several including some which Ralph mentioned in his reply. In Firefox I can copy from and then paste into, for instance, a form field on a Web page. My Web page (http://edmullen.net) has a Google search form you can try that with. > > What may be occurring is that the copy included HTML and/or formatting, > and as such a simple "Paste" command isnt available, but you can paste > the material using "Paste As Quotation" instead. Again, depends on the target application. -- Ed Mullen http://edmullen.net http://mozilla.edmullen.net http://abington.edmullen.net Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks. |
