With an older version of FireFox I had to install Sage to read RSS
feeds. The 1.5.0.3 installation said it has RSS support in it. How do I make it work? How can I get FF to look for feeds on the current page and add them to my list? How do I get it to check those feeds? Stubby |

Let me walk you through a typical case. > How can I get FF to look for feeds on the current page Open Firefox 1.5.0.3 and go to http://news.bbc.co.uk/ In the navigation bar, see how there is an orange icon at the right-hand end of the URL location field? That orange icon tells you that Firefox has found a feed on the current page. > and add them to my list? Click on this orange icon. A dialog labelled "Add live bookmark" will pop up. There are two fields you can adjust: "Name" -- the name by which you want to remember this feed. "Create in" -- a place in your bookmarks where you want to add the feed. When you add a feed to your bookmarks, Firefox creates • a "live" bookmarks folder for the feed itself • inside that folder, a bookmark for every item in the feed. Firefox automatically checks the feed every hour (the default setting) and updates the contents of the bookmarks folder for the feed itself, adding or removing bookmarks from this folder as items are added to or removed from the feed. > How do I get it to check those feeds? Open the bookmarks folder for the feed. Inside this folder you will see a bookmark for every item in the feed, updated within the last hour. The bookmarks are given the same names as the titles of the items in the feed. To check out any item in the feed, simply click on its bookmark. -- Cheers, Ralph "Curiosity skilled the cat." |
