Firefox - Thoughts on Mozilla/Firefox-supported program called 'CleanCache'? |

Anyone here maybe use and/or care to comment on the product called
CleanCache (now up to version 3.2, I believe: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4122.html)? It looks very efficient and wide-ranging in its capabilities, but that's a reason why I'm asking about it. Could it, for example, 'clean out' stuff that you might actually want to retain? I think I heard good things about the program some time ago, but I haven't yet installed it. Thanks - Ken Ken |

SpyBot S&D can do everything that this program can do and much more except for emptying the recycle bin and deleting the Temp files, but then, Windows clean up tool does that effectively. SpyBot is also good for clearing cookies, it marks tracking cookie spy-ware in red so you can immediately see what's essential to clean and lists IE and FF cookies allowing you to protect what you don't want deleted. I would go with SpyBot as it is fully configurable and you can fine tune it to exclude specific products and registry MRUs so that they are not included in a search and specific history you don't want to delete is saved. -- Rob http://www.flickr.com/photos/canopus_archives/ |

The web address is still cached by Google. There, the author spells out all of the Mozilla/Firefox refinements. But I think you've turned me off CleanCache 3! (There are other products that safely clean up a little bit more than Windows's own cleanup tool does. For example, there's something called Ashampoo WinOptimiser Platinum 3, which I'm trialing at the moment - the trial came on a DVD from a computers magazine.) For some reason, I find the latest SpyBot off-putting. - Ken - Ken |
