Hi
I must dis agree with you completely. 1/ We as Gold Partners are guide to take this exam for SBS. (We are one of the largest in UK) 2/ The current prep tests/ booksand the course DO NOT COVER anything to do with the exam I took. 3/ If SBS is a big part of it, WHY so little questions on SBS. I am renewing my MSCE. I think I will just take the normal exams,Exchange etc. This Exam and course has wasted one month of my time. And my money on course/books/preps. It was like taking an Exam in German, only to get French question, BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL LANGS. If you are taking SBS EXam, you need to think in SBS. YOU ADD USERS IN A DIFFERENT WAY. If I answered Users and computers it would be wrong for this test. The mix has been done wrong. I think that we will be dropping SBS from out products. (As it my Decisions). Maybe this was Microsofts IDEA not to sell SBS "Montreal MCSA" wrote: > Hi Jim. > > I had not seen your initial complaint, but let me answer it here. Hi
I have been checking up. http://www.microsoft.com/learning/exams/70-282.asp States that the course and exam are in line. There is nothing in the stated course about SQl and Excahnged migrations. yet in the exam there were questions, Lookin the newsgroup lots are complaining about this. The Exam has moved away from the stated objectives.. IE Course and Exam should be on same subject. I have just wasted time, I could have been taking the exchange or active directory exams. There stated objective are clear. Microsoft wrote the course, maybe they should keep them together. Otherwise people will want there money back??? Hi Jim,
I am sorry that you feel that way, but I am not entirely sure how you would have me respond to your points in two posts. If you feel that you have wasted your time by studying material that will be pertinent to your career if not an exam then it is too bad but I will be honest, I have spoken with a lot of people who have written the exam both before and after the changes and most of them are satisfied with the changes. Again I will repeat that Gold Certified Partners are not supposed to have any advantage whatsoever with the SBSC program. Frankly when I was told about the program I was upset because I was not to receive any advantages, and when it was explained to me that the big advantages were for small businesses rather than Gold Partners I was satisfied. Obviously you are not. I have to ask though... do you work with Small Business Server, or were you relying solely on studying? As with every Microsoft exam they tell you ahead of time that you should have real experience before writing the exam. I have been working with it for quite some time and was therefore comfortable in the exam without the course and studying. However you are right, they do expect the SBS answers, so adding users should not be done through ADUC. Both SQL Server and Exchange Migrations are a part of SBS, but it will often be the case that they put answers in that do not apply as wrong answers. If you overthink the answers often you will get caught. In closing I am sorry that you are considering dropping the SBS line because you are upset, and would welcome the opportunity to help you off-line to resolve your concerns. I know that Microsoft has made extreme progress in the past two years to make the product what it is and I honestly believe it is the right solution for small businesses. If you are unhappy please e-mail me at mitch at mitchgarvis dot com and hopefully we resolve your concerns and possibly change your mind about carrying the product line. Best regards, Mitch Garvis -- MDG, MCSA "Jim Prendergast" wrote: > Hi > > I have been checking up. > http://www.microsoft.com/learning/exams/70-282.asp > States that the course and exam are in line. > > There is nothing in the stated course about SQl and Excahnged migrations. > yet in the exam there were questions, Lookin the newsgroup lots are > complaining about this. > > The Exam has moved away from the stated objectives.. > > IE Course and Exam should be on same subject. > > I have just wasted time, I could have been taking the exchange or active > directory exams. Exam 70-282: Designing, Deploying, and Managing a Network Solution for a
Small- and Medium-Sized Business Not even in the title is SBS mentioned, as I've stated before this exam is applying knowledge to designing the right solution for the right candidate [business]. Its not nor has it ever really been an "SBS" exam. Even the competency add for Partners is SBC [Small Business Community] which may have some focus to SBS but doesn't mean its SBS alone. As far as the questions you mentioned about other Microsoft Products, they were not first of all that difficult nor were they secondly out of the knowledge set fro someone consulting networking and infrastructure solutions for small and or mid-sized businesses. As for your comments about taking an Exchange or an Active Directory exam instead...even if this was a totally SBS exam what technologies do you think are included with it? AD and Exchange would be two of those technologies; I'm sorry you've had a rough time of it, but your complaint seems to have no foundation. -- ..rev - mct.mcngp.44 .. I am booked in to take this exam in a couple of weeks time.
I have the course 2395A book having taken the course in November. I also have The Microsoft SBS2003 Administrators companion. And Harry Brelsfords primer book Can you tell me wherabouts it mentions Exchange migration and SQL migration in this material? There is also no reference to SQL2005 in the course material. I have been using Measureup practice tests and also Self Test Software and I was getting pass results but now it seems I may be sitting an entirely different test to what I have prepared for. I have to agree with Jim. If Microsoft are going to re-vamp the test that's OK but surely they should revamp the course material first and certainly inform the audience that is is changed. Interesting, can we expect in the near future Mac or Linux questions in this exam? As the title does not make this impossible, and we are talking about right solutions for the right candidates. I consider the new exam an undocumented change of policy certainly in regard of http://www.microsoft.com/learning/exams/70-282.asp Probably it mainly clarifies the Microsoft way of working, we better like it go to look elsewhere. lists@advalvas.be |

Hi
I think my objection was. 1/ The course. 2/ The mock exam (From MS site) 3/ The guidlines. DO NOT ASK FOR SQL or EXCHANGE migration info. I have no problem with a exam when the correct subject is examined. But to examine on subjects NOT included on the above is wrong. Yes the 2395A course has modules on windows 2003 migration. NOT ON SQL or EXCHANGE Yet the course is still stated by MS as the course for this Exam. Change the EXAM, change the GUIDELINES and the COURSEWARE I took my B Sc Pure Maths there was no History questions, funny that.
