please,please

can anyone please point me in the right direction to start a career in IT,I
have been thinking about it for to long and done nothing about it,I only have
pc basics so i guess i wont be having tea with big bill just yet,i am in the
uk so if anyone has any advice on courses i could take would be a great help.

There are several questions to ask before you go into the IT field. The
first question is usually "Why do I <you> want to be in IT?", followed
closely by "What part of IT do I want to base my career upon?", and the list
goes on.

It is very important to know what you want to do in IT. Working as a
programmer with hopes of inventing the next great program is vastly
different from working as a helpdesk analyst and closing the next great
helpdesk ticket with hopes of one day architecting the messaging system for
BP. Wonder if the President of BP has had tea with Bill. I digress...

Tell us a little bit more about your background...school, how long you have
been using computers, experience, etc.

There was a good thread recently regarding starting with an MCSe. You can
probably find it on Google Groups:

Can anyone assist me in obtaining a list of patches from an ftp please.

That was kind of a vague question. You probably need to put the FTP site,
the patches you need, and what problems you are having. Additionally, you
may want to start a new thread. From there we can direct you to the correct
newsgroup.
