Default Charged for Insurance, Seller kept the money

I won a DVD from an ebay Seller and was charged $2.95 shipping
handeling and insurance but the box only had $1.59 media mail on it and NO
INSURANCE and I wrote to the seller and asked for a refund of $1.36 and
was told that he insured him self and what was my complaint if i received
the item think this is fradulent and unethical because it is obvious that
the seller just stole my money who can I report this to?

The best thing you can do is grow up. $2.95 is a very reasonable shipping
charge. The $1.36 went toward paying for the packaging materials, and other
incidentals. You paid for SHIPPING and HANDLING, not just postage.

The seller has every right to "insure it himself". If the package had been
lost, he would have replaced it or refunded your money.

You have no complaint.
"Joyful" indeed.

By all means, report it to the FBI. Grand larceny, for sure.

The USPS postal inspectors. Take *all* your records that prove
what you paid, and for what....as well as the shipping label.

Also, ALWAYS include the shipping and handling as part of the amount you are
willing to pay for the item. I mostly sell casino chips and always state
the shipping as a bit more than the postage.... However, I always package
them very carefully and spend money on materials that some don't. In the
future, just include the shipping as part of the price when you are deciding
on bidding for an item.

By God, I'd report it to everyone. Start with the local police. Then go to
the State Police. Then the Governor's Council on Consumer Affairs.

Why fool around? Just call the FBI. I mean, $1.36 is no paltry sum. I'd
fight the bastards no matter what it cost.

Don't forget the Better Business Bureau, and the Federal Trade Commission.

Maybe you could just take a hit out on the guy. Screw the cost, it's the
principle of the thing.

I think the ultimate bottom line is that any seller can and should at
least partially self-insure, but they should NEVER EVER mention them
doing so.

UPS, of course, does automatic tracking and at least the first $100 of
insurance.
