Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of A BOY NAMED CHARLIE BROWN, CRUMB,
DREAMER: INSPIRED BY A TRUE STORY, THE FACTS OF LIFE: THE COMPLETE FIRST AND SECOND SEASONS, GLENN TILBROOK: ONE FOR THE ROAD, HOME MOVIES: SEASON FOUR, THE MEL BROOKS COLLECTION, and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE: SPECIAL COLLECTOR'S EDITION: A BOY NAMED CHARLIE BROWN (reviewed by Geoffrey Miller, overall score 84/100): "The appeal of Peanuts has always been the incongruity of young children with very adult personalities and problems. Charlie Brown may be barely school age, but he has the same inadequacies and insecurities that many of us 'grown-ups' do." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/bo...arliebrown.php CRUMB (reviewed by Steve Evans, overall score 82/100): "Crumb ultimately comes across as a bitter man, less deserving of our pity than vague sadness." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/crumb.php DREAMER: INSPIRED BY A TRUE STORY (reviewed by Michael Rankins, overall score 89/100): "It's rare that a film can be described as predictable, derivative, simplistic, and saccharine, and also be described as a good movie. Dreamer: Inspired By A True Story -- and yes, the latter subheading is part of the film's official title -- is just such a rare film." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/dreamer.php THE FACTS OF LIFE: THE COMPLETE FIRST AND SECOND SEASONS (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall score 84/100): "It's hard to watch the show as an adult and remember how serpentine and crushing these problems were and see it all confronted and solved in a half-hour. All 29 episodes hide a special moral lesson aimed at teens, and it makes the show hard to swallow when you've learned The Facts of Life for yourself." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/fa...eason1and2.php GLENN TILBROOK: ONE FOR THE ROAD (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 90/100): "One can go out and purchase all the Squeeze/Tilbrook CDs they want, but they won't offer the joy of seeing a man connect with his own inner desire to entertain, nor will they provide the proof in wonderful sequences of a man making music for those utterly devoted to his designs." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/ti...fortheroad.php HOME MOVIES: SEASON FOUR (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 93/100): "What do you get when you cross a terrific show with a solid technical presentation and a batch of interesting extras? Another must-own Home Movies set, of course." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/homemoviesseason4.php THE MEL BROOKS COLLECTION (reviewed by Ryan Keefer, overall score 81/100): "In times of politically correct extremists who boycott and protest everything, Blazing Saddles would never see the light of day in 2006. Many of the jokes in Young Frankenstein would be trimmed or excised altogether, and no one would see a star-laden 90 minute silent movie nowadays." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/melbrookscoll.php MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE: SPECIAL COLLECTOR'S EDITION (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall score 88/100): "If what you want is a story a monkey can understand and wall-to-wall thrills, perhaps the sequel would be a better choice. The original Mission: Impossible is an unusual beast: a blockbuster with the heart of a spy drama and the brain of a thriller." There's a pretty embarrassing error in the Mel Brooks Collection. It
has to do with the film Brooks did NOT direct. You might want to fix it. Bill Coleman Bill Coleman |

At least here in the USA, IIRC, there has never been an animorphic DVD before the one in the set. Between that & the fact that a fair number of the included titles are 1st time releases, all animorphic and clean looking, the score its given seems a tad low, but then again Im a fan of Mel Brooks and the gang.
