Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of AEON FLUX, AMERICAN DAD! VOLUME 1,
EROSION, FAIRY TALE POLICE DEPARTMENT: CASE FILE #1, FISTS IN THE POCKET: CRITERION COLLECTION, THE GUARD FROM UNDERGROUND, HAVE NO FEAR: THE LIFE OF POPE JOHN PAUL II, KARAS: THE PROPHECY, METAL SKIN, 24 HOURS ON CRAIGSLIST, and THE WEDDING SINGER: TOTALLY AWESOME EDITION: AEON FLUX (reviewed by Michael Rankins, overall score 81/100): "If you're of the opinion that Peter Chung's animation is gospel and ought not to be tampered with, you're going to find yourself kicking the coffee table throughout this movie. If you never saw the TV series and only picked up this DVD so you could watch a spandex-clad Charlize Theron kick major butt, you may like it just fine." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/aeonflux.php AMERICAN DAD! VOLUME 1 (reviewed by Geoffrey Miller, overall score 86/100): "At first, I just stuck around out of convenience and curiosity, but as the weeks wore on, something miraculous happened: As it became increasingly obvious that new episodes of Family Guy were hit-and-miss affairs, American Dad! steadily improved and, eventually, won me over." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/americandadvol1.php EROSION (reviewed by Neal Solon, overall score 50/100): "The screen goes black for roughly a minute, color bars appear (with the accompanying high pitched tones), the screen goes black for a few more seconds, and then a brief section of the film that has already played repeats before the film continues." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/erosion.php FAIRY TALE POLICE DEPARTMENT: CASE FILE #1 (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall score 80/100): "This series isn't gritty, but it does promise fairy action-and- adventure tales that children should really dig if they are fans of the original stories." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/fairytalepdvol1.php FISTS IN THE POCKET: CRITERION COLLECTION (reviewed by Eric Profancik, overall score 85/100): "Fists in the Pocket is fascinating, a true pleasure to watch. A story featuring such family dysfunction, mental instability, and murder must be labeled as dark -- and Fists in the Pocket is quite dark." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/fistsinpocket.php THE GUARD FROM UNDERGROUND (reviewed by Adam Arseneau, overall score 70/100): "A campy, surrealist slasher film, The Guard From Underground makes no apologies for its crappy budget, bad acting, or absurd plot...it simply goes out and kills a lot of people for no reason." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/gu...nderground.php HAVE NO FEAR: THE LIFE OF POPE JOHN PAUL II (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 45/100): "You know you're in trouble when events that were crucial to this Pope's reign, such as the fall of Communism in Eastern Europe and the success of the Solidarity Movement in his own native Poland, are given the 'meaningful montage' treatment." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/havenofear.php KARAS: THE PROPHECY (reviewed by Dan Mancini, overall score 90/100): "An audience shouldn't need a comic adaptation and a marketing blurb on the back of a keepcase to make sense of a movie's plot." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/karasprophecy.php METAL SKIN (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 82/100): "Metal Skin is an odd one to call. Maneuvering somewhere between a masterpiece and a complete mess, it is a film that definitely deserves a chance to find an audience. Where such a strange demographic can be located will be just one of the many hurdles this hyper-stylized movie must manage." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/metalskin.php 24 HOURS ON CRAIGSLIST (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall score 88/100): "You've got the sexual, the innocent, and the money hungry gathered together in extremely fast-edited clips that are as scatological as the site itself." FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/24...craigslist.php THE WEDDING SINGER: TOTALLY AWESOME EDITION (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 80/100): "Seriously, enough with the 'Totally Awesome Edition' and 'Explosive Extended Edition' and 'Special Delivery Edition' and 'Totally Explosive Super-Terrific Give Me Some Ritalin! Edition.' Next studio to put out a disc with a moronic label like this will be held in contempt."
