Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of THE ANDY MILONAKIS SHOW: THE
COMPLETE FIRST SEASON, AU REVOIR LES ENFANTS: CRITERION COLLECTION, THE
BLACK BELLY OF THE TARANTULA, THE CHILDREN ARE WATCHING US: CRITERION
COLLECTION, THE CUTTING EDGE: GOING FOR THE GOLD, LACOMBE, LUCIEN:
CRITERION COLLECTION, LINCOLN, MURMUR OF THE HEART: CRITERION
COLLECTION, SLIVER: UNRATED EDITION, STAY, 3 FILMS BY LOUIS MALLE:
CRITERION COLLECTION, and TRANSGENERATION:

THE ANDY MILONAKIS SHOW: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON (reviewed by Neal
Masri, overall score 50/100):
"I am unhappy to report that expanding a small dose of Andy to an entire
show of his own was a bad idea."

AU REVOIR LES ENFANTS: CRITERION COLLECTION (reviewed by Dan Mancini,
overall score 100/100):
"Au Revoir les Enfants not only stands at the apex of Louis Malle's
oeuvre, it is one of the most gripping coming of age pictures ever made.
A potent anti-war film, it is a bona fide classic of French cinema
worthy of a place beside the best works of Renoir, Melville, Truffaut,
Godard, and the other French masters."

THE BLACK BELLY OF THE TARANTULA (reviewed by Steve Evans, overall
score 72/100):
"Like Psycho, the picture concludes with an epilogue featuring a half-
assed psychological explanation for all the mayhem, but by this time
most cult fans are already bolting for the exits (or hitting the eject
button on their DVD players)."

THE CHILDREN ARE WATCHING US: CRITERION COLLECTION (reviewed by Steve
Evans, overall score 90/100):
"As a work of art, The Children are Watching Us will impress film lovers
with its formal, even painterly, visual compositions. On a deeper level,
it's hard to remain unmoved while watching young Prico survey the
dysfunctional world around him."

THE CUTTING EDGE: GOING FOR THE GOLD (reviewed by David Johnson, overall
score 79/100):
"Finally, there's the final skating sequence at the Olympics, where Alex
and Jackie unleash their Skating Super-Move!!! -- an impossible triple-spin-in-tandem-midair-catch-toe-
loop Ha-dou-ken!!! that's obviously and cheesily green-screened. Talk
about jarring you out of the moment."

LACOMBE, LUCIEN: CRITERION COLLECTION (reviewed by Dan Mancini, overall
score 89/100):
"The other possibility is more terrifying. Perhaps Lucien is a boy like
any other. Perhaps we each have a secret fascination with death and,
therefore, the capacity to slide bit by bit into evil."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/lacombelucien.php

LINCOLN (reviewed by Patrick Naugle, overall score 90/100):
"The program seems to make a case that Lincoln suffered from enormous
bouts of depression that may have led to his staggeringly productive
work output."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/lincoln.php

MURMUR OF THE HEART: CRITERION COLLECTION (reviewed by Dan Mancini,
overall score 95/100):
"Murmur of the Heart inaugurated a new phase in Malle's career. The
picture is a bildungsroman, but that's not the only thing that makes it
feel like a shockingly potent debut -- as a matter of fact, it's not
even the primary thing. Murmur overflows with an exuberant love of craft
and subject-matter typically found in the work of a young artist flexing
his muscles."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/murmurheart.php

SLIVER: UNRATED EDITION (reviewed by Eric Profancik, overall
score 70/100):
"For an erotic romp in the land of voyeurism, this is one limp escapade.
After the sheer raunchiness and debauchery of Basic Instinct, Stone's
foray here seems almost G rated -- as long as you ignore her breasts,
bottom, and rocking gyrations on top of William Baldwin."

STAY (reviewed by Michael Rankins, overall score 83/100):
"Director Marc Forster has crafted a visually arresting film that's
often startling in its imagery, and freed an exceptional cast to create
some of their best individual performances."

3 FILMS BY LOUIS MALLE: CRITERION COLLECTION (reviewed by Dan Mancini,
overall score 95/100):
"Each deals in one way or another with one of Malle's favorite subjects:
the rocky and painful transition from adolescence to adulthood. Two of
the three are set in World War II, the backdrop for Malle's own
challenging coming of age. Viewed together, they offer the Malle
neophyte a great crash course in the director's thematic obsessions and
cinematic technique."

TRANSGENERATION (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall score 93/100):
"Transgeneration is one of the most timely and well-produced documentary
releases I've seen. You'll never get a chance to spend five hours with a
more interesting group of college kids again."
