Default .avi files giving region code error

I have downloaded many .avi movies, but a couple, when played in my Sony
DVD player, give a region code error. It does play in my computer. From
what I understood, .avi files
don't have region codes. But if the person that rips it, doesn't remove
the region code, then would'nt the .avi file have the region code?

I tried copying that dvd, with AnyDVD software running, which should remove
the region code, and other things, but same thing.

Any help is appreciated

You are probably downloading PAL stuff, which wont play that well in North
American equipment, since NA is literally an NTSC only area....and Sony
equipment in NA is notorious for not playing PAL video....

If you want my advice, get rid of that Sony and buy an ILO DVDR05MU1
($99 WalMart). Get the 610 version of firmware.

I would not own Sony if you paid me to. It's total crap.

Remember it was Sony that tried to ban people from copying tapes.
Pricks.
