Default Plextor PX-740A & Nero

I've created a few backups using my Plextor drive and Nero 6.6.0.16. When
I write to a Memorex or Ritek DVD+R/DL disc, I get a "successful burn"
followed by multiple errors on the verify.

Using the same media, but writing ISO's with DvdDecrypter (same speed,
2.4x), I don't get any verify errors. For now I'll just use Nero to
create an ISO and then burn with DvdDecrypter.

I just recently upgraded the firmware from 1.00 to 1.01, so maybe that
will help.

I also noticed this drive sometimes has read errors on commercially
available DVD media.

I have read that the average live expectancy of a DVD writer is two to
three years. My first $350 Sony one lasted a bit over a year. I am
still on my second Pioneer 16X, about two years now.

On the other hand, are your DMA settings for the drive proper?

Thanks the URL, I have the correct system settings. I have a Pioneer
that's going on almost 2 years and an external Plextor going on a year.
Both work great. I did lose a Sony drive during a power outtage (it was
burning at the time of power loss). My only problem is my new DL drive.
Since Decrypter works great, I'm assuming it has something to do with
Nero.
