Default tech help

I am wondering if anyone out there knows where I can get
facts on the ratio of techs per user/pc in Canada. I need
to provide concrete facts for our bosses here at work in
order to justify why we need more techs ( busy as hell
doesnt cut it unfortunately ). Thanks in advance.

That is not going to work. You need to approach the problem for cost vs.
benefit. Since your boss doesn't see the value of hiring on his own, he
would most likely not be impressed by any studies you produce. Obviously,
the biased input of current MCSA, etc, would hold even less currency.

Start documenting the amount of work going through your department/group.
Pay particular attention to Backlog, downtime attributable to techs not
being able to resolve a problem. If necessary try to cross reference that
against the pay scale of the requestor or the relative contribution of
his/her department to the company's bottom line/productivity/profit.

That is the only way you will be able to pry a shekel from his clutching
fingers. This will serve 2 purposes; it will give you experience in cost
justification and may serve to impress your boss with your abilities outside
of your job title. There may be a down side, he may figure you have too much
time on your hands...if you can spend time on producing a spread-sheet.
Life's a B***H!
