That's what B. Gates said about the Xbox 360. He was sadly wrong, as
they can't even get near that many in the stores. A day late, and
$100 too much... as usual.

Likely more than that.

They probably don't/didn't count PC DVD "data drives"

Wrong. It is hardly 'no problem at all.' Have any of you studied physics?

Just by saying it is difficult... does not make it so.

Please point us in the direction to any where on the internet (other
than you) saying: "From a scientific standpoint it is very difficult.
Non trivial. Expensive."

"Japanese executives in general are very political, so this was very
surprising," Kovsky said. "Technically, it is possible...but at this
point, it doesn't look like it will happen, which is a shame, because
it will hinder adoption." Of course the rules that govern all of these
companies just makes the battle more bitter for consumers. "The
conundrum is that you've got two different camps. You've got licensing
issues, you've got trademarks, you've got copyrights," Weedfald said.
"You can't just be on the Blu-ray side and say, 'We will put HD DVD in
there,' and the reverse is true."

It will be a while before we see one on the market, but it is far from
Impossible.

Exactly... you were wrong once again. Glad we agree.

Hmm... at the end of 2003 there were approx 66 million sold in the US.
(Biggest Market for DVD's I wonder). So it may be similar to total
Video Game market at the end of 2003... around 399 million.

Even with DVD there were limits to software. With Region Coding
stopping you from picking up 'software' while on a trip to the Uk for
example.

Damn... just can't seem to find world wide sales numbers.

Personally, I think those CEMA numbers are suspect, too, because if only
60M or so players were sold in the US by 2003, that means that some DVDs
were sold in such volume that 1 in 6 DVD players had a copy. Taking into
account households with multiple players, this would make some DVDs have
close to 1 in 3 household penetration...those are like Super Bowl ratings.

Even worse, some TV series sets would be in nearly 1 of 8 homes with DVD
players. Again, using a ratings equivalent, that's around the same number
of people that watch a show like "NCIS" each week, but instead of getting
it for free (like network TV), they paid a decent chunk of change for it.

You're not still on that kick, are you? I mean, it's one thing to be
wrong and graciously admit it when pointed out to you, but it's another
to be stubbornly ignorant.

Have you studied physics? Because you exhibit no knowledge of it
whatsoever.

Count on 'Alpha' to "be stubbornly ignorant."

Not so big on admitting when he was 100% wrong. Expect 'Alpha' to
completely ignore what he has said in the past.... especially when it
has been proven wrong.

I will argue no further. I was and am not wrong on this. The problems they
ran into are being covered up by political issues. That is all.

There never was even the slightest indication of the merest prototype. Just
hype from Samsung.

As for Zyber, kiss my doctorate.
