My A110...like 90% of the A110's made...died within 2 years. There was a
class action lawsuit over it.

Find me a $59 player that will still be running in 6 years and be as
reliable as my sd-2109

Take your pick. In 1999 your 2109 was $300. For that same $300 you can buy a
new $59 player every year for 5 years. The first one will probably last 3
years at least...giving you 4 backups. You'll probably get 12-15 years out
of that deal. Plus guess what....if the 2109 were made today it would
cost.....$59. If not less.

OR, you could stock up on used 2109's. They go for like $30 now. Wow you
could buy TEN of them with that $300.

It would also be made in China and last 3-8 months. It seems from
reading lots of reviews that most players these days are made in China
and last under a year. I like not having to rewire my setup every year
though.

Count yourself lucky as my Toshiba SD-3109, the model above the 2109, died
about 2.5 years ago....I thought the 5 years or so it lasted was more than
reasonable though. My newer Pioneer players(DV-363, DV-563) are far
superior in every way at less than half the cost of what I paid for my 3109
back in the day
..
