I only had this DRC8040 3 months and it already died. The funny thing is I
only used it once a week. Bad design, it overheats and shuts off for no reason, it freezes up for no reason, the S-video input died for no reason. Now I gotta take it to an RCA service center and be without a recorder for 3 weeks. I guess paying only $130, I got what I paid for. Mike |

Maybe.. I paid $ 159 for a Lumatron. It sometimes freezes. Very sensitive to
cheap media. (Writes erroneously to half of my cheap media, rending these unusable including waste of time). Manual terrible and faulty. Also, the S-video input is so designed that an S-video plug will not enter !! Anyway, it is maybe a sign of the modern times. You can sell anything... If it doesn't work, then again it was cheap.. But I am old fashioned. I expect a device to function. No matter the price. "Mike" <> skrev i en meddelelse news:... >I only had this DRC8040 3 months and it already died. It is true that DVD+RW does not require finalization (I just checked it.) Either that, or the simple act of stopping a recording in progress automatically finalizes the disc. But if that were the case, it would drain all meaning from the word "finalize". Since I don't have any DVD-RW blanks, I can't verify the implied part of my original statement--that DVD-RW DOES require finalization. Will someone please check. Norm Strong |
