Confused

I have a question for one and all. Maybe the answer is obvious but I can't
find it.

If I am creating a dvd and burning it to a rewritable disc and if it is
successful shouldn't it be easy to make a copy to a writable disc? I started
by using Nero Vision Express and then I attempted to make a permanent copy.

If I succeed the first time why can't I succeed a second time. What did I do
wrong?

Some DVD-r's or +'s are more troublesome then others, what disc have u used?
